School for democracy, respect & diversity<\/h1>\n

Welcome to our campus and our schools, a place where democracy, respect and diversity are not just words, but lived values. We firmly believe that education goes far beyond the subject matter and includes a profound education for active and responsible participation in society.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n

In order to promote and strengthen these important principles, we actively support projects and campaigns that deal with the topics of democracy, respect and diversity. From project weeks and intercultural encounters to discussion groups and theatre performances, our aim is to educate our students to become critical and reflective thinkers who value and respect the diversity of our society.<\/p>

We are also happy to support events that also focus on these values. Whether it's local initiatives or national projects, we are always interested in inspiring and encouraging our students to stand up for an open, inclusive and democratic society.<\/p>

We cordially invite all members of our school community - students, teachers, parents and partners - to actively participate in these endeavours. Together, we can contribute to creating a school culture characterised by respect, understanding and cohesion.<\/p>

Let's celebrate the importance of democracy, respect and diversity together and prepare our students to become active and engaged citizens of our diverse society.<\/p>

Projektwoche: 17. Juli bis 23. Juli 2025<\/h3>\n\n

\u201eGesichter der Demokratie \u2013 Stimmen unserer Schule\u201c<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Die Sch\u00fclerinnen und Sch\u00fcler aller Jahrgangsstufen und Schularten setzten intensiv mit Ihrer jeweiligen pers\u00f6nlichen Haltung zum Thema Demokratie, Respekt und Vielfalt auseinander. Als Ergebnis wurden Schl\u00fcssels\u00e4tze formuliert zu der Leitfrage: \u201eWie (er)leben wir Demokratie?\u201c<\/strong> . \u00dcber diese S\u00e4tze „stolpert“<\/strong> man nun \u00fcberall im Schulhaus.<\/p>\n\n

Project week: 15 to 19 July 2024<\/h3>\n\n

This week, a cross-school and cross-class project week on the topic of \"School for Democracy, Respect and Diversity\" took place at our Dietrich Bonhoeffer Education Campus. The aim of this project was to promote awareness of the core values of our society and to encourage pupils to live and appreciate these values in their everyday lives.<\/p>\n\n

75 years of the German \"Grundgesetz\"<\/h3>\n\n

Today, on 23 May 2024, our \"Grundgesetz\" will be 75 years old \ud83e\udd73. It is the foundation of our coexistence in a free and democratic constitutional state. Following the peaceful revolution in the GDR in 1989, the \"Grundgesetz\" became the common constitution of a reunified Germany on 3 October 1990.<\/p>\n\n

Butterfly<\/h3>\n\n

In July 2022, we implemented the Butterfly Project at the DBBC - the aim was and is to teach young people about difficult historical topics such as the Holocaust in a playful way - and to give a voice to those who died in the Holocaust, including 1.5 million children, each child paints a ceramic butterfly, a symbol of hope and resilience.<\/p>\n\n

Rally for democracy<\/h3>\n\n

The reporting of the last few weeks has strengthened our confidence that the vast majority of our society stands against historical forgetfulness and intolerance. We can see how hundreds of thousands of people are standing up for humanity, diversity and a free society. It is up to each and every one of us to carry on this strong signal and to make it visible in our everyday lives, at work, in our circle of friends, in our families and in our lives. This also applies to us at the DBBC. That is why we are supporters of this PRO DEMOCRACY rally.<\/p>\n\n
